With the beginning of the full-scale war of the RF against Ukrainian people, in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv a volunteer center was created to help civilian victims and the military. The center was founded by the leaders of public organizations and participants in hostilities in the east, who have many years of experience in volunteering and in fighting against the russian agression. The volunteer center includes the NGO “Public organization ‘Sport Club FAVORIT'” – has been operating since 2011, the NGO “Restoration of Personality” – has been operating since 2015, “Kyiv Union of ATO Veterans” – has been operating since 2015, “Kyiv Regional Brotherhood of OUN and UPA” – has been working for more than 10 years, the Trade Union of Banking and Financial Sectors, the NGO “Crazy Spiders”, the NGO “Movement against Drug Abuse and Drug Corruption”. All this organizations and their members could not stay away from the trouble that came to Ukraine. During the ongoing russian aggression, the volunteer center focused on the following areas:
- Search for military assistance providers (military clothing, ammunition, sleeping bags, etc.);
- Search for humanitarian and civilian aid providers, including IDPs (personal hygiene products, long-term food, clothing);
- Search for humanitarian aid providers for mothers with babies (diapers, baby food, etc.)
- Weaving camouflage nets for military equipment;
- Organizing and conducting training for military and civilian tactical medicine;
- Providing the military personnel with the necessary equipment for service;
- Personal care and provision of necessary humanitarian assistance to civilian victims and mothers with childrens.
During the active phase of hostilities in the Kyiv region, in addition to the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, were organized humanitarian aid trips to Bucha, Irpen, Gostomel, Gorenka, and Chernihiv. Taking into account the significant amount of activity performed by our volunteer center, in order to create more effective mechanism for providing help to military and civilian casualties, it was decided to establish a Charitable Foundation “Resistance to the Russian aggression” on the basis of the center. Foundation’s main goal is to systematize our work and provide stable provision of assistance to those who need it.
